I AM
Gord Burt
Just a little about me...
I completed my Education Degree at the University of Regina in 2008 and I've been teaching for 9 years now.
My experiences are very broad and diverse. I started my career as the Language Arts and Social Studies teacher on a First Nation Reserve in Saskatchewan where I stayed for five years.
I moved to Calgary with my wife Erin and daughter Arwyn in 2012 and was hired with the Christ the Redeemer Catholic School Board out of Okotoks where I did a 6 month contract. I worked at Centennial High School in Calgary for a short contract and then at Edge School for Athletes, the private school in Springbank, for a year and four months.
I went on the Calgary Board of Education sub list and mainly worked in the South East near where I live.
I have a passion for English, history and athletics. Three things I get to teach here at Mt. Royal.
I am an avid reader, I collect sports cards, autographs and have amassed a comic book collection of over 20,000 individual issues, all passions I get to share with my two daughters (though my wife wishes I had less expensive hobbies).
I coach my oldest daughter in both hockey and baseball and you won't likely get a hold of me if the New England Patriots are playing football on a Sunday.
