As one of our founding nations in the creation of this country we know as Canada, these groups as well as our Anglophone and Francophone populations have collective rights. As we have already examined, our First nation’s populations have been subjected to many discriminatory practices, since the Indian Act was proclaimed in 1876.
In 2018, we are asking you to examine a first Nations community and identify a key issue that needs to be dealt with. In your role as the Minister of Aboriginal Affairs you are responsible for looking after the needs of your first Nations communities, whether it is First Nations, Metis or Inuit. Issues: Water Quality, Sub-standard housing, infrastructure, economic development, drug and alcohol abuse, or another issue that you have discussed with your teacher which is an area of interest for you.
